Rving lends itself well to today's awareness of green products, renewable resources and renewable energy. RVers by the lifestyle's very nature are in tune with the environment.
Here are a few items to think about in your everyday RVing life, that will help you Go Green. Using small packages, to prevent waste, recycling plastic, paper and aluminum are all things most of us already do. Doing it in your RV is just a small bump in the road.
Replacing cleaning agents that are chemical based
with ones that contain natural ingredients is a healthy switch. Enzyme based,
formaldahyde and ammonia free chemicals are available for use in holding tanks to
eliminate bacteria
that causes odors in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
Cleaning agents such as white vinegar and baking soda are easily stored for use in RV galleys and bathrooms, and will clean nearly anything. You'll find recipes for safe, eco-friendly cleaners that you can mix yourself at healthychild.org
Opening windows allowing fresh air to circulate improves the air quality inside of your RV as well as avoids using energy for heating and cooling. Plan your travels for warmer spots in cooler weather, and cooler spots in the height of the dog days of summer. You will save energy and enjoy your outdoor experience much more.
Stubborn odors can be masked in natural ways. Place some cinnamon, sage, cloves or lavender in a pan in some water. Bring it to a boil, then turn down and simmer for a few minutes. You'll love the warm and friendly aroma. Indoor plants are a nice addition inside of your RV and help filter the air as well. Flowering plants smell nice, and so does a sachet of dried flower petals.
The trend toward lighter weight towables has been increasing for two decades.
